Your teeth are going to wear down with time; it is a natural occurrence. It is when the enamel wears down at an accelerated rate that we have to worry.
Oftentimes, it is due to a bad habit or habits that you have that are causing the unnatural wearing of your enamel. If you are guilty of any of the following habits, it is time to try to stop them so that you can keep your teeth healthy.
- Tooth Grinding – Teeth were not meant to hit other teeth. When the two surfaces come together, something is going to give. This means that the enamel on either your top or bottom teeth are going to begin to wear away.
- Chewing Objects – Your teeth are not strong enough to withstand the pressure of chewing objects, such as pencils, pens, nails, or anything that is not food. You might not notice the enamel wearing away right away, but with consistency of this habit, you will lose enamel over time.
- Poor Diet – If you consume a diet that is high in acid, you probably have weak enamel. The acid starts to eat away at your enamel in small amounts. At first you will not notice any changes, but over time, the enamel will begin to wear away.
