Dental Bridges
A bridge is an excellent way to replace one or more missing teeth, and it is less expensive than having implants. This dental prosthetic is permanently fitted onto two adjoining, healthy teeth. The finished procedure has the look, feel, and functionality of real teeth. The materials used are strong and durable, and with good at-home dental care, a bridge will last for many years. Daily flossing between the bridge and the gum area will keep the area clean and healthy. Just like real teeth, the dentist will check the condition of a bridge during regularly scheduled dental examinations and cleanings to ensure that the fit remains firm and does not need any adjustments.
Composite Fillings
At Gregorin Dental, we utilize composite fillings as a modern solution for restoring teeth affected by decay. These tooth-colored restorations blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, offering both durability and aesthetics. Composite fillings are a mixture of glass or quartz combined with resin, designed to fill cavities after decay is removed. Unlike the silver amalgam fillings used in the past, composite fillings bond directly to the tooth, allowing for a more conservative approach that preserves more of your natural tooth structure.
Dental Crowns
Crowns can cover up and resolve many dental problems, our preference is a complete inlay which leaves more of your natural tooth structure. Crowns are made from several varied materials to fit different dental needs. The dentist will analyze each patient’s condition and determine the best material for that individual. All crown materials are strong, durable, smooth, and natural looking. Crowns, like natural teeth, require good at-home, daily dental care. Crowns are used for:
- Teeth that have large cavities or cracks
- Attaching bridges between two healthy teeth
- Teeth like coverings over implants
- Reshaping small teeth and misshapen teeth
- Coverings over teeth with naturally stained coloring
Dental Technology
Gregorin Dental uses the most modern, state-of-the-art dental equipment for their patients’ oral health needs that result in less pain and more gain. Current technology includes:
- Anesthesia administered by The Wand, a computer controlled method that slowly and steadily numbs the oral cavity with a local anesthesia needed for cleanings or other dental procedures.
- iTero Digital Scanning totally removes the need for messy mold formations needed for corrective denture prosthetics. The digital images also reduce, or eliminate, the need for adjustments prior to applying the prosthetics.
- Digital X-rays use 80 percent less radiation than traditional x-rays. The images are immediately available for review, which shortens the time the patient needs to be in the dentist’s chair.
- Ultra Sonic Scalers use a vibration motion to break up and remove plaque and tartar that can lead to gum and periodontal diseases.
Dentures
This is the way for anyone who has one or more missing teeth and wants to have a full set of attractive, well formed, and properly functioning teeth. A denture can fill in the space or spaces where someone has lost teeth due to decay, illness, or injury. A denture can be made to fit over the gum lines, and can be constructed as a partial or full prosthetic. While the traditional procedure is for a denture to be removable, today, a patient may have the choice to have a permanently applied denture attached to dental implants. The end results are artificial teeth that look attractive, feel like natural teeth, and effectively correct eating and speaking issues associated with missing teeth.
Exams and Cleanings
Without a doubt, the first line of oral wellness is a person’s need for an annual or semi-annual dental examination and cleaning. It is during this time that the family dentist can thoroughly inspect a patient’s oral health, to determine if there are any current dental issues, or if there are any potential situations that have not yet fully surfaced. During this regular visit, the dentist will do an oral cancer check, measure the gum area for any irritations or internal pocket growths under the gum lines. The dental hygienist can also offer valuable home-care advice on the proper flossing and brushing methods.
Oral Cancer Screening
The Gregorin Dental practice is very conscientious of how cancer can impact a person’s life. That is why every patient will receive an oral cancer check when they come in for an appointment. This non-invasive screening lets the oral specialist check for unusual lumps, discoloration, or anything else that appears abnormal. If anything, unusual is detected, the patient may be referred for specialized testing. The oral specialist will check the entire mouth.
Periodontal Disease
Periodontal problems begin as gum problems. If left untreated, what was a minor gum irritation or infection can worsen and manifest into infections with connecting tissues and the jawbones. When this happens, it is called periodontitis. This condition can impact other areas such as the teeth, bone loss, and the spread of infections into other parts of the body. The major culprit of periodontal problems is plaque that has accumulated and not been removed. With good at-home dental care and regular dental examinations, plaque can be controlled and removed before it can cause painful damage. Dental disease prevention is another great reason to adhere to regular dental cleanings.
